Beveridge’s fortune is derived from his ownership of Fifth Generation Inc, the closely held maker of Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Beveridge founded the Austin, Texas-based company in 1997, according to the company's website.

Market researcher IBISWorld calculates the company had revenue of $1.4 billion and operating income of $255 million in 2020, according to a report. It's valued based on the average enterprise value-to-sales and the average enterprise value-to-EBIT multiples of three publicly traded peers: Brown-Forman Corporation, Diageo and Andrew Peller. An update to this analysis in October 2021 to reflect 2020 financials led to a decrease in calculation of $1.5 billion.

Family: Married, 3 children

Bert Butler "Tito" Beveridge was born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 9, 1961.

He attended the University of Texas at Austin and majored in geology and geophysics. After graduating, he worked in the oil industry, including stints in Colombia and Venezuela. He started a drilling company in Houston, later moved to Austin, and eventually entered the mortgage business.

He decided to start a vodka company after watching a late night motivational speaker encouraging viewers to find their life work by finding the intersection of their passions and skills. Unable to find investors for the business, he used personal savings and credit card debt to build his original set-up in a one room shack in an unfashionable part of Austin.

The company's growth picked up after it won a double gold medal for best vodka at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Tito's Handmade Vodka was estimated to control about 25 percent of the US vodka market in 2018, according to IBISWorld.
