Wu Qun, a spokesperson for the company, didn't respond to a request for comment on the calculation.
Gao was born in 1965 and obtained a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1985 before completing his master's degree three years later.
Gao founded Trina Solar in 1997 and the company joined the New York Stock exchange in 2006. Ten years later, Gao led a consortium to privatize the company.
Trina Solar joined the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2020.
