Manufacturing accounted for 4.0% of all hires, sixth highest of any industry, among MBA graduates in their first jobs after business school at the 119 schools around the world that participated in the 2021-22 Best B-Schools ranking of full-time MBA programs. Harvard Business School and Yale School of Management MBA graduates earned a median salary of $150,000 in manufacturing, highest of all schools that participated in the business school ranking. At $137,500, MIT’s Sloan school was third, and University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton had the fourth highest, at $137,000. Northwestern’s Kellogg was fifth, at $126,000. INSEAD sent 21 graduates into manufacturing, the most of any school. Second was IE, at 18, followed by Brigham Young’s Marriott school, at 17. Case Western Reserve’s Weatherhead school sent 33.3% of its MBA graduates into manufacturing, highest among all schools in the Bloomberg Businessweek business school ranking. At 26.9%, University of Tennessee’s Haslam school had the next highest, followed by Michigan State’s Broad school, at 22.6%.
