Amazon.com Inc. hired the U.S. unit of Spanish energy company Iberdrola SA to build and run a 208-megawatt wind farm in North Carolina that the online retailer will use to power its data centers.

Amazon Wind Farm US East in Perquimans and Pasquotank counties, North Carolina, will open in December 2016 and supply power to Amazon Web Services data centers, the Seattle-based company said Monday in a statement. Iberdola is based in Bilbao, Spain, and is the country’s largest electricity company.
