The U.S. and Iran began a seventh round of indirect talks in Vienna on Monday, their latest attempt to revive the 2015 agreement that imposed limits on Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for reduced sanctions.

The stakes are huge, with potential repercussions for global energy markets as well as the stability of the Middle East. Negotiations between Iran, the European Union, China and Russia started at the historic Palais Coburg around 2 p.m. in the Austrian capital. The U.S. will take part indirectly through EU mediators.
