Ackman Cites Past Spitzer Probe in Defending Bankman-Fried

Billionaire investor said his experience being investigated 20 years ago is a reminder that the FTX founder is innocent until proven guilty.

Bill Ackman says getting investigated by Eliot Spitzer has informed his opinions about the disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

In a series of tweets sent Thursday, the billionaire investor discussed a 2002 probe by Spitzer, who was New York’s attorney general at the time, into whether his former firm Gotham Partners had engaged in market manipulation. Ackman said the investigation found no wrongdoing, but damaged his reputation.
