Tailgating started early in Rittenhouse Square on Thursday, with a lunchtime giveaway of “Bird Dogs” — Dietz & Watson hot dogs on green buns from Cacia’s Bakery.

At the Philadelphia Museum of Art, thousands of people catching the last days of the Matisse show found giant cutouts of Eagles players on the steps Rocky made famous. “Birds” puffer vests and hats were all over town.
