After serving in the United States Marine Corps for six years, Chris Nowak discovered golf as a form of rehabilitation after losing his leg in a training accident.

Getting out on the course allowed him to forget about his injuries, he says, and focus on playing a game. Beyond the obvious benefits of being out in nature, Nowak says golf has the ability to help veterans “get their minds focused on something other than the trauma they’ve experienced and the trauma they’re dealing with.”
