Ualá Chief Operating Officer Is Leaving Latin American Fintech

Mariana Franza, a longtime Goldman Sachs Group Inc. banker who took over three years ago as chief operating officer at Argentine fintech Ualá, is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity, according to people familiar with the matter.

Franza will remain on the board at the banks Ualá owns, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. Her departure is unrelated to the company’s decisionBloomberg Terminal to fire 140 employees, or 9% of staff, in a move to eliminate overlapping roles. Led by founder Pierpaolo Barbieri, Ualá operates in Argentina, Mexico and Colombia.
