Kenyan Firm Plans 195MW Solar Plant to Produce Green Ammonia

Kaptagat Green Ammonia Park Ltd. is seeking a license to develop a 195 megawatt solar power plant in Kenya to power the production of 40,000 tons of green ammonia annually.

The plant will be in Kenya’s Rift Valley region and will also see the installation of a 20 megawatt-hour electrolyser that will use the renewable energy to split water to make so-called green hydrogen, the company said in a statement. Ammonia, which can be used in fertilizer, is a derivative of hydrogen.
