Iconic Mexican Stadium to Get $106 Million World Cup Facelift
One of Latin America’s most cherished sports venues will get a multi-million-dollar makeover before hosting its third men’s World Cup next year.
Estadio Azteca, where soccer idol Diego Maradona scored his infamous “Hand of God” goal during Argentina’s quarter-final match against England in 1986, has secured a 2.1 billion peso ($106 million), 12-year loan for its renovation.
