Federal immigration agents working with state and local authorities arrested 1,120 people across Florida last week in what officials called the largest coordinated immigration enforcement operation ever conducted in the state.
About 63% of those arrested during the six-day “Operation Tidal Wave” had existing criminal charges or convictions, according to a statement from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Most were from Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras and Venezuela.
