Thiam Makes Surprise Return as Leader of Ivorian Opposition

Former Credit Suisse Group AG Chief Executive Officer Tidjane Thiam was re-elected to lead Ivory Coast’s main opposition party days after he resigned from the post, a maneuver aimed at bypassing a challenge to his eligibility to fill the position.

Thiam’s candidature as head of the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast was unopposed at a party congress held in Abidjan, the capital on Wednesday, with almost 100% endorsement from the delegates.
