Ghana Raises Cocoa Farmer Pay by 4.2% After Cedi Gained
Ghana raised the amount it pays farmers for their cocoa beans by 4.2% as the local currency’s appreciation limited the scope for a bigger increase.
Producers of the chocolate-making ingredient in the world’s second-biggest grower will receive 3,228.75 cedis ($306.9) per 64-kilogram bag in the 2025-26 season that starts Aug. 7, Minister of Finance Cassiel Ato Forson said in the capital, Accra on Monday. The new rate represents 70% of the freight-on-board value of the beans, Forson said.
