Chicago Bears Reset Board After Stake Sale at $8.8 Billion Value

The Chicago Bears filled the board seat of the team’s longtime matriarch, naming the first member of the family’s next generation to the panel. The appointment came days after the organization struck a deal for a minority stake that set a valuation record for the National Football League.

Edward L. McCaskey is now listed on the seven-member board, according to the franchise’s website. The seat had been vacant since the death in February of his grandmother, Virginia McCaskey, at the age of 102. Edward McCaskey, who didn’t respond to a request for comment, is the son of board secretary Patrick McCaskey, according to public records.
