Angola's President Tries Stem Threat of New Protests Over Surging Fuel Prices

Angolan President João Lourenço said that calm had returned to the oil-producing country after meeting with his top advisers following deadly protests last month.

“Public security is now stable with all previously disrupted services fully operational again,” the presidency said in a statement on Monday. “Social media still spreads disinformation and incitement, fueling panic.”
