Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s chief rival, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, has regained a parliamentary seat after cruising to an easy victory in a special election Monday night.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. projected Poilievre would win the riding of Battle River-Crowfoot in Alberta just before 10 p.m. local time. With 84 of 286 polls reporting, he had captured about 80% of the vote.
