Indian Grid Delays Threatens $7 Billion of Solar Projects
Upcoming solar projects valued at more than $7 billion in the Indian state of Rajasthan have stalled after conservation efforts to safeguard a native bird led to bottlenecks in transmission approvals, according to an industry group.
The projects of almost 10 gigawatts are slated to be built just outside areas earmarked to protect the Great Indian Bustard, an endangered species, the National Solar Energy Federation of India said in a statement on Friday. Still, without transmission approvals construction cannot start.
