Businesses Can’t Rely on Republicans as They Did Before

Executives used to count on the GOP to pursue a low regulation, pro-growth agenda. But the trade war’s impact outweighs any attempts at deregulation.

Once upon a time in Washington, the business community had loyal allies in Congress, and they were called Republicans.

When Democrats proposed legislation that threatened to over-manage, over-regulate or over-tax American businesses, executives and the lobbyists who advocated for them in the nation’s capital could rely on Republicans to defend their interests.
